Building a Best-in-Class Billing Program for a Specialty Business Line

In 2013, Tokio Marine HCC developed a comprehensive, fully-integrated insurance program tailored specifically for contractors in the United States. Called ArtisanEdge, this program utilized a state-of-the-art portal that enabled agents to easily quote, bind and bill customers within minutes of accessing the Tokio Marine website. Challenges arose around how best to handle the customer billing and payments of this new product line. The Case for Upfront Analytics

Insurers have traditionally relied on analytics solutions to play a less than proactive role, identifying operational areas in need of improvement, producers with less than desirable sales numbers, and products with underwhelming margins. Today, there is a new expectation of analytics solutions, and a stronger than ever business case for including it upfront to create more proactive and successful processes in areas such as agency prospecting, underwriter scoring, predictive modeling, and risk calculation. In order to maximize the value of internal data, reduce the cost of supplemental data needed, and select the best risks, modern analytics solutions can be utilized to identify holes or gaps in internal data where third-party data providers may be able to deliver value, highlight demographics ripe for new customer acquisition, capitalize on opportunities through trend profiling, and improve underwriting accuracy at the same time.
